James "LaTeek" Huggins

Born in New York in 1990, James LaTeek Huggins started his journey in dancing at the early age of two.  His love was so strong for dance that his family would record music videos in order for him to watch them repeatedly, until he was able to memorize the choreography.  By watching theses video he has felt as if he was dancing alongside some of the greatest entertainers of all time like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, and Beyonce,. 

 

Although, he was a late bloomer technically, his professors Janet Reed, Joy A. Guarino, and Carlos Renaldo Alvarez Jones pushed him to overcome the age bracket stereotype and his technique now speaks for itself.  With his persistence and determination, not only has he managed to become quite a dancer, but he has accomplished the ability to obtain a special ability and passion for education of the art and creative choreography.

 

James has been touring and teaching for several years now.  His latest travels in 2013 was to Assam, India where he taught both children and adults Ballet, Jazz, and Modern dance at the Trinant Dance Academy. While teaching at TDA he served as the Interim-Artistic Director.  He was in charge of giving lessons in dance history, creating unique class routines and providing professional training for several dance competitions.

 

James embarked on a path to create art, and on his 24th birthday, January 16th, 2014, his vision was established.  “Teekvision.”  A dance company that incorporate his spirituality, his creative movement and his passion for dance.
